The Different Types Of Work You Can Do In The Making Of A Movie Or TV Show
Making movies or producing TV programs is a unique and exciting industry. Most of these jobs are in Los Angeles or Hollywood, California, especially pertaining to movies. New York City also has some television series that are filmed there as well as the majority of theatre with Broadway shows performing there. This article will look into a few of the various jobs that are used for the filming of a motion picture or a TV show that are a bit unique. It will discuss anything from a professional make up artist that changes actors appearances for a movie using Des Moines cosmetics to a special language coach that is needed to teach an actor the proper speech and accent needed to play a part in a film.
With so much computer technology that is available today, audiences are expecting greater things from films especially in the area of special effects. The special effects category of jobs, has grown to be a much broader one with that improved computer technology. There are people that are special effects engineers and handle all of that kind of work, using computer and the green screens to have things in the movie that could not be done by humans in real life. This is used a lot in action movies. Often times an actor will appear as if they are hang gliding from a cliff, for example when they are on a set in front of a green screen doing the actions necessary for a special effects scene.
Another element of special effects in the film world as well as on TV programs is the use of a talented makeup artist. They are responsible in making an actor look just like the character they are playing which a lot of times is no where near how they look in real life. One example is the great movie, Tootsie where Dustin Hoffman had to play a woman for just about every scene he filmed. This had him sitting in the hair and makeup chair for hours everyday letting the professional handle the transformation.
To prepare for a movie, many actors must research their character and the setting and story line of the entire movie. Many times, actors have to use a certain dialect or speech pattern that is nothing like their own voice and this can be very difficult. For example, you may have an actor that was raised in Texas and has a twangy southern American accent and then they need to play a German spy with a strong German speech pattern. There are specific coaches that help actors learn and speak in the accent or speech pattern that is needed to play that role in the movie successfully.
Another entertainment specific job that is needed for filming are the use of stunt men or women. Not only do they have to pull off physically challenging or dangerous stunts, but they also have to appear a lot like the actor as possible while they are doing it. This may also be known as a body double.
