Do Fashion Designers Make Their Clothes Deliberately Small?
If you’re someone that isn’t stick thin and yet still likes to look good, it can be hard finding ladies designer clothes that fit you perfectly. Curvy ladies can sometimes turn their backs on designer clothes because they know there won’t be anything available in their size. Through many years of designer clothes being available, the fact they are small sized doesn’t seem to have changed at all.
Of course, all women want to look their best and ladies designer clothes have a great impact on our self-confidence. The problem starts when curvy ladies find they can’t buy top designer clothes because they simply can’t get into them! To start with, you have to be able to find a designer brand that caters for your size and this can be a lengthy process for some. It is interesting to note how designer clothes are always on the small side, so whereas you might be a size UK 8 in normal clothes, you would probably have to buy a size 10 to be able to fit into it. Slim women can also appreciate the nightmare battle with smaller sized designer clothes, which is why they often take drastic measures to fit into their favourite clothes.
It is clear that fashion designers make their clothes slightly smaller so that they look their very best when on the catwalk and being worn by the very thin models. Now would be a good time for fashion designers to realise that women come in all shapes and sizes and their designer creations can still look just as good on someone slightly larger. Unfortunately, designers often only look at how the garment looks on the catwalk.
There is a glimmer of hope though, in that there are many fashion designers now creating pieces that do cater for the real woman and sizing doesn’t run small with all brands. One brand, Juicy Couture, used to be well known for making small clothes, but their sizing is much more ‘true to size’ these days, which bodes well for other brands potentially doing the same.
